Shopmobility run by Disability Peterborough is based in Queensgate Shopping Centre, based on level 11 of the Green Car Park

Opening Times

Shopmobility offers scooter and wheelchair hire from 10.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Thursday.

To pre‑book the service or for further information, please contact Shopmobility directly on 01733 313133. You’ll find them on the 11th floor of the Green Car Park.

Out‑of‑hours wheelchair hire is also available from Unity, located on the ground floor, at a cost of £5 per hire. Availability is as follows:

Monday – Wednesday: 3.00pm – 5.00pm
Thursday: 3.00pm – 8.00pm
Friday – Saturday: 10.00am – 5.00pm
Sunday: 11.00am – 4.00pm

Arriving by Car

Our Shopmobility office is on Level 11 of the Green car park and is easy to get to. The best places to park are:

Blue (Cavell) Level 5
Red (Royce) Levels 5 and 11
Green (Clare) Levels 5 and 11

There are spaces for blue badge holders and lift access on all of these levels. We’d recommend avoiding parking in Yellow (Perkins) as you’ll need to use a footbridge to get to Queensgate.

Arriving by Taxi

Most local taxi companies will park and accompany you to the Shopmobility office. Just ask for help when you book your taxi.

Peterborough’s main bus station is between our car parks and the shopping centre itself. To get to our Shopmobility office from the bus station, take the escalators or lift up in to the centre, then take one of the car park lifts to Level 11. Because this involves a short walk, please call our office on 01733 313133. We’ll arrange to meet you at the bus station.

Our Shopmobility service relies on volunteers – and if you’d like to help in any way, we’d love to hear from you. Please call our Shopmobility coordinator on 01733 313133.

Door-to-Door Transport

If you can’t use public transport, you can come straight to Queensgate with the help of Peterborough City Council’s Community Link’s door-to-door service.

Wheelchair Hire

We have transport chairs, which have small wheels for someone else to push you, also Self propelled chairs which can be either pushed or moved by the user.

Hire charges*

£2 per day, £10 per week
£30 per calendar month

We also have some children’s wheelchairs

* to use this service you need to hold an annual membership, which costs £20.

Scooter & Powerchair Hire

We have 1 powerchair and 6 scooters available, which can be taken apart to transport them in your car.

£10 per day, £50 per week
£150 per calendar month

£150 deposit is required

With an Annual membership for £20, you can use a scooter or wheelchair in and around the city centre, anytime we are open (times above)

We have limited opening hours as the service is run by volunteers, however appointments can be made for collection of Long Term Hire service, outside of these times by contacting our Disability Peterborough to arrange this, on 01733 265551 or email info@disabilitypeterborough.org
