Waste Management
Recycling Initiatives
- We recycling 208 tonnes of general waste a year which is turned into energy. That’s the same weight as approximately 34 adult African elephants.
- Every year we recycle 41 tonnes of mixed materials. That’s roughly the same weight as two double decker buses.
- Cardboard – Did you know we collect around 190 cardboard bales. If you stack that cardboard, it would be as tall as a 25-storey sky-scrapper.
- Food – Every year we recycle 384x wheelie bins of food waste into energy. That’s roughly the volume of enough food to make 4,600 Sunday roasts.
- Glass – We recycle 200 large 240L bins of glass every year. Imagine putting those bins end – to – end it would stretch the length of approximately two and half football pitches.
Shop Fits and Contractors
- At design stage we emphasise to incoming tenants to give consideration for replacement lighting and, if applicable, food preparation appliances
- Building materials items such as timber, MDF & plastic products are mainly manufactured by suppliers with NCZ in mind
- We work with shop fit contractors to segregate their waste for recycling, as opposed to sending to landfill
- We encourage the use of re-usable hoardings by shop fit contractors wherever possible
- We ask that contractors, where possible, only use battery operated power tools
Printing
- In 2020 we launched a new Over – C which gives us the ability to make our cleaning and security departments 100% paperless. This app allows our teams to manage fault logging, accident reports, customer feedback and complete H&S tours. This system allows real time reporting and instant modification straight from either Android or iPhone.
