Community Celebrations
Every year we recognise and celebrate the occasions that are important to our community. In 2024/25 this included Chinese New Year, EID, Diwali, Durga Puja, International Women’s Day, Caribbean Carnival, Eating Disorders Week, Glastonbury Festival, Easter, Christmas and Black History Month, amongst others.
Ramadan & EID at Queensgate
Each year, we celebrate Ramadan & Eid—a joyful and significant time in the Islamic calendar—by bringing people together through creativity, connection, and collaboration. Working closely with members of the local mosque and Muslim community groups, we ensure our Eid celebrations are both meaningful and inclusive. This partnership helps us authentically honour the occasion while strengthening ties across the city. As a centrepiece of our celebrations, we transformed one of our retail units into a beautifully decorated Eid shop window, created in collaboration with children at the local mosque Featuring traditional patterns, crescent moons, lanterns, and messages of peace, the display welcomed all visitors to learn about and appreciate the spirit of Eid.
Celebrating Culture: Durga Puja at Queensgate
As part of our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and cultural celebration, Queensgate was proud to host Durga Puja, one of the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar. This vibrant event brought colour, culture, and community spirit to the heart of the centre, creating space for connection and shared celebration.
Durga Puja celebrates the strength of women, the triumph of good over evil, and the power of community. By welcoming this festival into Queensgate, we not only honoured cultural heritage, but also reflected the diversity of Peterborough and the visitors we serve every day. The event featured:
- Traditional decorations and a striking Durga installation in-centre
- Cultural performances and music open to all visitors
- Educational displays to help people learn more about the significance of Durga Puja
- Opportunities for local families and community groups to take part and share their traditions
Celebrating International Women’s Day at Queensgate
At Queensgate, we believe in championing equity, opportunity, and empowerment—and International Women’s Day (IWD) is an important moment to spotlight the incredible contributions of women in our community and beyond.
Each year, we proudly mark IWD with in-centre campaigns, partnerships, and activities that align with our ESG values of inclusion, representation, and social impact.
To celebrate IWD, Queensgate shines a light on local female community leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, and social changemakers. From showcasing female-led independent businesses in our UNITY retail space to featuring art and storytelling from women in our community, we create platforms where voices can be seen and heard.
We provide space for grassroots organisations and women-focused groups demonstrate female empowerment and host pop-ups, awareness stalls, and workshops within the centre—giving the community a voice on issues that matter.

Proud to Support PRIDE
At Queensgate, we celebrate diversity, champion inclusion, and stand proudly with the LGBTQ+ community—not just during Pride Month, but all year round. As part of our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, we are proud to support and sponsor local Pride celebrations in Peterborough.
In 2024, Queensgate donated £5,000 to support Pride Peterborough—helping fund vital infrastructure, entertainment, and community outreach. This contribution reflects our belief in visibility, equality, and standing up for what matters.
Throughout Pride Month, the centre is transformed with:
- A vibrant Pride flag display at the heart of the centre, creating a striking and joyful visual statement of support.
- Colourful Pride-themed decorations in retail units, showcasing solidarity from our tenants and spreading celebration throughout the mall.
We also provide free space within the centre to host Pride fringe activities, such as pop-up performances, community art, wellbeing workshops, and LGBTQ+ support stalls—ensuring grassroots groups have a platform to connect with the public and share their message. Pride is more than a celebration—it’s a commitment to visibility, equality, and allyship. At Queensgate, we’re proud to play our part in building a more inclusive, welcoming city for everyone.
